“It gives you chills to think of what that atmosphere was like, and how crazy it gets and the passion that (our fans) have,” Nagy said. “So now when you have that and after a year off of not being in the stands, now they get to come back? Are you kidding me? It doesn’t get any better than that.
Unvaccinated players must continue to get daily testing, wear masks and practice physical distancing. They won’t be allowed to eat meals with teammates, can’t participate in media or marketing activities while traveling, aren’t permitted to use the sauna or steam room and may not leave the team hotel or interact with people outside the team while traveling.
“Let’s wait,” Hahn said, pointing to the still undetermined return date for Jimenez, who will begin rehabbing at the Sox facility in Glendale, Ariz. “It’s trending the right way. Luis is trending the right way. I’m certainly optimistic both will contribute this year, but the deadline is not for another six weeks, and we’re going to know a heck of a lot more about each of those two before the deadline.”

Paul scored 37 points in Game 4 of the West semifinals against Denver, helping Phoenix finish off a four-game sweep. He has only played in the West finals once in his career, doing so in 2018 with Houston against Golden State. The Rockets held a 3-2 lead in that series when Paul injured a hamstring and had to miss Games 6 and 7; Houston lost both and the Warriors went on to win the NBA title.
“It’s easy for us to say, ‘Oh, just back off on the velocity and you’ll be fine,’ ” Hottovy said. “When you’re out there competing, the last thing you want to do is feel like you’re not attacking, you’re not using your best stuff, right?
“It is June, but these games are fun,” Keuchel said. “These games are ones that you can, good or bad, take a lot from and move toward October with. But it is just June, so you’ve got to kind of pump the brakes on overhyping yourself and just try to get the job done night in and night out.”
“That was a really nice relay by Guillorme, almost a blind turn and throw to get our fastest baserunner, trying to make something happen there late,” Ross said. “I err on the side of aggressiveness. The chances of that bang-bang relay, just a nice job by them. They played a clean baseball game and came out ahead.”
“Eloy talked the other day (about), ‘I’m going to be ready soon,’ ” La Russa said. “Well, you’re ready when you’re ready. Same thing with Luis, it would be the same thing with Nick. This way, it takes that decision out of him and then he can just take his time and make sure he’s 100%.”
