“I’ve already said we’re the bad kids that don’t listen,” Anderson said laughing. “And we keep rolling. Talk about how good we’re playing, the great things about the players, not just Tony. He ain’t picking up no bat, no ball, no glove. He ain’t doing nothing but filling out the lineup cards …
Omi, who accompanied Suga at the news conference Thursday, noted that more people are moving around in Tokyo, summer vacations are approaching, and new virus variants are spreading ahead of the Olympics. “There are many risks that can trigger an upsurge,” he said.
Nadal, who reached the French Open semifinals last week but lost to Novak Djokovic, has won the title at Wimbledon twice, in 2008 and 2010. He also won the Olympic gold medal in singles at the 2008 Beijing Games and in doubles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
“He’s definitely flashing,” Nagy said. “Every play you get, every rep you get, you get a little bit more experience, a little more confidence and you can play faster. Now the stuff that goes on on the offensive side of the ball slows down for you and your reactionary skills are better.”
“Just make sure I have (the intent) the same every single pitch,” he said, “not just saying, ‘Hey, throw this one over,’ or, ‘Hey, I really just need a strike here.’ No, I’m trying to execute this pitch still, regardless of score or situation, get back to that intense focus in a way, and I think everything else will be cleaned up.”
Right-hander Robert Stock struggled with command during his first big-league start. The one sneaky thing about A-Rob that I think is pretty cool is No. 1, even if he’s not here, you know he’s working his tail off, and No. 2, he’s always in great shape, and we noticed that today.”
That’s a heavy metaphor to decipher, but if Hahn is the designated juicer, he has a chance to squeeze the life out of the Cleveland Indians, the Sox’s only real pursuer in the American League Central. Acquiring someone such as Miami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte or another available slugger at the trade deadline would be as good a way as any to show Sox fans he means business.
“He was told that it was his fault, he was told that if he ever brought it up again, life was over as he knew it, so he suppressed it,” attorney Susan E. Loggans told the Tribune last month. “The triggering event for him was when he learned that this guy had done it to somebody else. He felt, ‘Oh, my God, if somebody would’ve done something about this at the time, it never would’ve happened.’ So he allowed himself to bring that memory about again.”
