Without warning, Ross ditched the mask during some games last week, just as many of his players have done for a while. Some of us in the media thought Ross was going rogue, sending a message to MLB that the mask-wearing protocols in the dugout needed to be lifted. If 99.99% of people at Wrigley Field were without masks, why should Ross have to wear one?
“I wish as a player, and just someone who loves the game, that whatever’s going on, there should be less chatter publicly,” A-Rod said. “Let the front office and let central baseball, the commissioner’s office, figure it out, give the instructions and let everyone follow through. They could re-engage in a move for Ball, depending on his price tag. Dennis Schröder, Goran Dragic and Spencer Dinwiddie, if he declines his player option, could be unrestricted free agents. A few talented veterans such as Paul, Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley could be on the open market, although they likely would have suitors ready to contend for a championship. Or the Bulls could try to work out a trade for someone such as the Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker.
“I was able to work a full count there and get one over (Paul) Goldschmidt’s head for a double,” Sogard said, “and then Serge came up and got me over — so great job there — and we were able to capitalize on the error and continue, so that was big. And then let Zach Davies do his work and shut them down.”
