“I think given the fact what I went through physically, the fact I’m not quite out of the woods yet, also just missing that time, missing an entire season, all of sudden trying to acclimate to how many games we’re playing and being on the road and all the things that kind of make an NHL season as difficult as it is, just trying to take all that in stride and know that I’m better than I was in training camp. Just got to keep with that progress.”

Keegan Murray, the leading scorer in the country coming into the game, went on a personal 10-2 run to get the Hawkeyes within three at 74-71 with 1:33 left, but Alfonso Plummer buried a 3 and knocked down two from the line. Illinois hit 10 of 12 from the line in the final 62 seconds to close out the victory.
Pickett returned to Pitt for a fifth season in 2021, taking advantage of the NCAA’s eligibility give-back for playing through the pandemic in 2020, and had a record-breaking year. He passed for 4,319 yards with 42 touchdowns to eclipse school marks and led the 13th-ranked Panthers to their first Atlantic Coast Conference title.
“Our guys have done a good job following and doing what we’re asked to be done from the league and from the medical side,” Donovan said. “This time of year, there’s certainly been a spike in this, but I have not heard anything as it relates to them going into a situation of shutting down the league for a period of time.”
“I know he was getting treatment and doing everything he can to be 100%,” LaFleur said. “I still think it’s a process, like anything, and we’ll see where he’s at this week. Hopefully we can get him out there at practice, but if not, we’ve got a lot of confidence in his ability to go out there and play at a high level.”
