“We will keep it pristine,” he said. “That’s our goal — to take this amazing venue and just enhance it. We’re not going to detract from it. It’s a great tourist destination. Now we’re going to have baseball, softball, music, hotel, you name it.”
With Holiday and Matthews hunting for steals, ball protection will be critical. The Bulls averaged 12.8 turnovers, the sixth-most in the league. And without Lonzo Ball, they don’t have an experienced option at point guard. Rookie Ayo Dosunmu took charge of the role after Ball’s injury, and Caruso replaced him as the starter in the final two weeks. The position will remain in their hands in the playoffs.

“I’m sure (Jiménez will) be sore, so I doubt he’ll play (Thursday),” manager Tony La Russa said. “And actually as much as Josh has played, he wasn’t in there for (Thursday). He felt a little bite there. He plays hard. He’s all over the field too.”
Rucker, 27, had not pitched in a game since the Cubs’ final Cactus League game on April 5. Managing his workload is a balancing act when going more than a week between facing live hitters. Rucker threw 10 pitches in the bullpen before Wednesday’s game to get in reps without taxing his arm. Dry work allows him to mentally prepare too.
“I think the big thing’s going to be the mound,” Lynn said. “When it comes to mound time, that’s going to tell us everything we need to know. Anything you do stress-wise on flat ground is not near as much as it is on the mound. So we’ll see, when it comes to that time, how we feel. And then after that, it’s building that pitch count, and that takes a minute.”
“Every decision I make is for the best interest of the player, their health and the ballclub,” Roberts said, “because there’s a lot of people that are cheering for the Dodgers, not only just for today and Clayton to throw a no-hitter, but for the Dodgers to win the World Series. For us to do that, we need him healthy.”
“It’s just trying to find that timing,” Hendricks said. “Nothing’s looking the same, everything’s looking different coming out of your hand. It’s not tracking, it’s not on the right lines. So you’re trying to find it — find your timing, focus on the glove, get the ball down, that kind of thing. But everything was up. Nothing was playing off of each other.”
Despite giving up some height when matched against Antetokounmpo or Lopez, the 6-10, 260-pound Vučević found success against the Bucks earlier in the season, averaging 20 points in the first three meetings. In those performances, Vučević balanced his shooting — popping out for midrange jumpers and 3-pointers and working to the rim for layups and post-ups.
The Bulls lost all four meetings with the Bucks this season, including 28- and 21-point blowouts in the last two games. The reigning NBA champions are led by two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who hasn’t lost a game to the Bulls since Dec. 27, 2017.
