About 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a wellbeing check of a woman being possibly held against her will in the 8400 block of South Mackinaw Avenue. When police arrived and knocked at the door, a male appeared in a window and closed the curtains, police said.

”Given our experience with these negotiations, the District believes strongly that a longer contract term will provide much-needed stability for our students and families. The union, however, is now demanding a two-year contract with 7.25% raises — 4.25% in the first year and 3% in the second year,” Henderson said.
“Any investments we’re making right now, the goal is to have them for at least the next three years,” said Martinez, who became schools chief in the fall. “When we talk about adding a significant number of teaching positions, for example, over 600 with $72 million in investment, adding more nurses, adding more counselors … We want to make sure that we have a long enough runway, so that we don’t create any instability for our schools.”
LaShawn Littrice, who has a doctorate in community psychology and is the parent of a sophomore, said she is helping students organize a walkout on Thursday, the last day before the school’s spring break. She said she’d like for there to be a proper platform for the students to speak from and for the walkout to be streamlined.
One is a man in his 60s who was sentenced to 60 years for a 1995 burglary and home invasion; at trial, the victim testified that he came into her apartment, grabbed her gun, and threatened to kill her, court records show. The victim was not physically harmed, but the defendant was shot in the chest during a struggle over the weapon, according to records.

“A few years after getting inaugurated, I stand here with all of you, and I stand here saying the hope is here,” Villa said. “We are ready, we know what the issues are with mental health, we know that there needs to be changes. And the future depends on it, our students’ lives, our children’s lives, our families’ lives, our community lives, the lives of the communities of color that have been disproportionately impacted by so much in regards to COVID.
