“Any investments we’re making right now, the goal is to have them for at least the next three years,” said Martinez, who became schools chief in the fall. “When we talk about adding a significant number of teaching positions, for example, over 600 with $72 million in investment, adding more nurses, adding more counselors … We want to make sure that we have a long enough runway, so that we don’t create any instability for our schools.”
