The all-electric building gets its electricity from rooftop solar panels, but its heat and cooling are powered by geothermal pipes, which are dug deep into the ground, to take advantage of relatively mild year-round temperatures of about 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The building, which does not have batteries to store energy, produces excess power during the day, when the sun is out, and pulls electricity from the grid at other times. Excess energy from the panels is used by the adjacent park.

“This is a tremendous boost to the Illinois craft grow industry,” said Scott Redman, president of the Illinois Independent Craft Growers Association. “Hopefully, this will trigger the department to announce the winners, and we can get those licenses issued.”

They will then be given an order to get vaccinated and if they don’t, she said, then they’ll be placed on no-pay status, which is considered nondisciplinary.

Wilson planned to give each motorist filling up at the specified stations as much as $50 in gas until the total donation amount of $200,000 is reached, according to a news release on his social media accounts. The free gas is available to all and is not based on need, nor will any information be required; gas will be doled out to motorists on a first-come, first-served basis.
“As long-time operators of an iconic professional sports team, the Ricketts family and their partners understand the importance of investing for success on the pitch, while respecting the traditions of the club, the fans and the community,” the statement said. “We look forward to sharing further details of our plans in due course.”
