This second phase of reopening for Navy Pier, the indoor hallways and spaces will reopen Thursday, with select businesses and retail stores following, according to the Tuesday announcement, “with the goal of being fully open by Memorial Day weekend.” Happy summer news for tourists and Chicagoans unafraid of looking like tourists.

Pritzker’s order said businesses must ensure all visitors, including customers, who are not fully vaccinated can practice social distancing, “but if maintaining a six-foot social distance will not be possible at all times, encourage those visitors to wear face coverings.” The new rules take effect immediately.
“We put growth plans on hold as the pandemic became clear, but opportunities come up, and this one did — it’s a beautiful space and a great location,” he said. “For us to open a place at this point in time, it had to check a lot of boxes: location, physical space, demographics of the area, and our ability as artists to feel like we could bring something different to the party.”
According to that report, when it comes to planes that carry more than 70 passengers, estimates based on standard weights published by the CDC will suffice. But new considerations are being given for smaller airliners where passenger and baggage weights need to be more accurate.
