After a disastrous qualifying session, of the 3rd Annual Las Vegas Grand Prix on Saturday, Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a rare appearance alongside Lewis Hamilton! The 35-time GRAMMY winner joined the seven-time Formula 1 champion for a high-speed hot lap before the weekend’s events kicked off.
What followed was essentially a glamorous, adrenaline-filled date night for the iconic duo. Beyoncé arrived in two eye-catching, motorsport-inspired outfits. Her first ensemble—a custom white Louis Vuitton jumpsuit—featured striking black and red accents reminiscent of racing flags. She completed the look with black boots and bold red racing gloves.
Later, she switched into a vivid red Ferrari leather bodysuit, paired with a matching coat and a sleek black Ferrari cap. Jay-Z opted for a polished casual look that complemented her style perfectly. Throughout the night, the couple seemed relaxed and upbeat, effortlessly embodying the glitz associated with Formula 1. They were also joined by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and rapper Travis Scott.

On the Track
Hamilton, however, faced a difficult race weekend. He initially crossed the finish line in tenth place, while his teammate Charles Leclerc secured sixth. After both McLaren drivers were disqualified, Hamilton was ultimately promoted to ninth. Frustrated by the outing, he described his time in Vegas as “horrendous.” Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted: “I feel terrible. It’s been the worst season ever, and no matter what I try, it keeps getting worse.”
Hamilton explained that he battled serious balance issues: “I was really struggling with the brakes—locking the fronts, locking the rears—there was no middle ground.” He added that although he was closing in on Nico Hülkenberg, his pace was unusually slow, and damage caused in an incident with Alex Albon’s Williams made matters worse.
Despite the disappointment, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur expressed confidence in Hamilton, noting that post-race emotions often run high. “Let’s calm down,” he said. “Initial comments right after getting out of the car are always a bit exaggerated. We just need to debrief and move forward. The last two weekends have been tough for Lewis, but we’re focused on the upcoming races.”
Why Were the McLarens Disqualified?
Roughly three hours after the broadcast ended, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified for minor yet crucial infractions. The underside plank of each car—made from composite material—showed wear beyond the permitted 0.9-millimeter limit, a regulation designed to control ride height.
Bottom line: the lower the car sits, the faster it goes.
Norris’ car exceeded the threshold by 0.12 millimeters and Piastri’s by 0.26. For comparison, a human hair measures about 0.17 to 0.181 millimeters thick. In Formula 1, even microscopic deviations can have major consequences. McLaren team principal Andrea Stella issued an apology to both drivers, as well as to partners and fans, acknowledging how critical the points would have been at this stage in the championship.
The Pink Cadillac makes its grand entrance

What ultimately stole the show in Las Vegas was the pink Cadillac driven by Terry Crews! He escorted race winner Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and George Russell to the podium in front of the Bellagio and its famous fountain. En route, Crews broke into the iconic opening of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles”, singing the well-known line: “Making my way downtown, walkin’ fast, faces pass and I’m homebound.”
It got a kick out of the drivers as Crews soaked in the awesome moment.
This moment comes on the heels of an announcement by LEGO Group confirming a new multi-year partnership with the F1 Academy.
“Throughout the year we brought fans closer to Grand Prix experiences and the sport of Formula 1, and this year in Las Vegas was no different,” said Julia Goldin, chief product and marketing officer with the LEGO Group. “From our incredible LEGO brick-built Cadillac car, to activating on Sphere’s iconic Exosphere with new and engaging content, and sharing the next step in our partnership with F1 ACADEMY with the world – the 2025 calendar has been incredible, and we can’t wait for what’s to come in 2026.”
What’s Next?
With the updated classification, Max Verstappen made a substantial gain in the 2025 Drivers’ Championship. He is now tied with Oscar Piastri at 366 points. Lando Norris remains at the top with 390 points, giving him a 24-point advantage going into the final two rounds.
To secure the title next weekend in Doha, Norris must outscore both Verstappen and Piastri by at least two points across the sprint and the main race, giving him the 26-point margin needed to clinch the championship early.
