The Silver Room Block Party, one of the most beloved Chicago summer festivals, will play for the final time in late July.
Event organizers cited increased costs and a resource shift as the reasons the event is ending.
“It is with a mix of emotions that we announce this as the final installment of our beloved block party,” wrote Silver Room Block Party founder Eric Williams in a June 23 statement.
Silver Room Block Party will have its last hurrah on July 29 and 30 at Oakwood Beach at 39th St.
The Silver Room Block Party started in Wicker Park in 2003 and moved to Hyde Park in 2016 before finally relocating to the lakefront.
It had become a staple event in Chicago that reliably featured an eclectic blend of music, art and positive vibes. The Silver Room Block Party was also a place to foster genuine connections, whether new friendships or romantic relationships.
“However, every story has its final chapter, and after much contemplation and reflection, the time has come for us to bid farewell,” stated Williams.
However, Williams urges the community to attend the final Silver Room Block Party.
“As we prepare to embrace the moments of this final edition, we invite everyone to join us for a grand celebration of the festival’s legacy,” he wrote.
“This farewell event promises to be a culmination of everything that has made The Block Party exceptional—a vibrant tapestry of music, art, culture, freedom, love, joy, peace.”
