Ross said the day off was “earmarked” for Rizzo, who hadn’t had a break since the All-Star break. Ross decided to also rest Bryant, based on the “length of the game” Wednesday and “issues with his legs.”
“I haven’t heard that it’s done, so I’m pretty careful talking about somebody else’s player other than I know the kind of year he’s having. Yesterday, while we waited for a night game, we watched the Cleveland game against St. Louis and he had a good game (going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBIs).
