Fields (9-for-19, 80 yards, a 59.1 passer rating) was far from spectacular in the second half and certainly was not as impressive as he was in his preseason debut against the Dolphins. He also made a rookie mistake in the fourth quarter, failing to account for a blitz from Bills linebacker Andre Smith, who crushed Fields, sent his helmet flying and forced a fumble. A roughing-the-passer penalty negated the damage of that mistake. But it was a reminder that Fields must continue to work around his inexperience, especially after he produced only nine points on 34 plays over six second-half possessions.

That makes sense from the standpoint that panicking wouldn’t do the coaches or players any good. It’s not like the Bears can make wholesale personnel moves to the 53-man roster. Maybe they’ll swap out nickel cornerback Marqui Christian, whom they cut in a procedural move before Week 1. But promoting Duke Shelley, who was inactive for the Rams game, wouldn’t make the kind of improvement the Bears can get if players such as Mack, Quinn, Hicks, Smith, Jackson and others step up.
Donte Williams, the Trojans’ cornerbacks coach and associate head coach, is taking over as head coach. Williams, a Los Angeles-area native and the first Black head coach in USC football history, joined the program in 2020 and has played a major role in the Trojans’ significant recruiting advancements over the last two cycles.
“They both tried to nonchalantly tag him, so it was just like, ‘You’ve got to do it more aggressively and you’ve got to make sure that, if anything, you’ve got to hit him. Don’t put any gray in it,’ ” Nagy said. “I guarantee you that entire defense will learn from that, and our offensive players will learn from that too. If you’re not touched, stand up and run and turn it into a touchdown. I know that Sean (Desai) is teaching those guys the right thing to do, and I know that those guys will definitely learn from it.”
“King has played a lot of football for us, been a little injured here and there, but we want him to go out there and play his brand of football,” Brohm said. “Dylan has come in and proven that he’ll run the ball hard, and he understands what we’re doing. He’s a tremendous worker and gives us everything he has.”
Arnold said his team’s proposal would include an ice hockey arena, potentially for a minor league team, along with senior housing, condominiums and apartments, an entertainment district with retail and restaurants, and would potentially include the Bears, if they so desired.
