“When you see a new guy rolling into the clubhouse and it’s a familiar face, it brightens up the day and you’re just so pumped to see them,” Wisdom said. “I think that translates in how you feel too that you’re all pulling in the right direction. Playing alongside the guys in Iowa and out here, I think it’s definitely helped the confidence. And also, it helps you be able to relax and just play because you’ve got your friend over there, and they’re always going to have your back and I think that helps out a lot.”
“This is the first time obviously for Maryland to go there to play — which completes us now having been to every team in the Big Ten with an away game,” Locksley said. “It starts Big Ten play, which is another season for us, different than the out-of-conference games. It’s a Big Ten opener, national TV audience, so it will be the show.”

There was very little the Bears defense did well Sunday night. If you are looking for a few highlights or some silver lining, I would point to the Rams’ second and third series. Los Angeles got prime field position for both possessions, starting on their own 41- and 42-yard line after the Bears turned the ball over on downs. The defense forced the Rams to kick a field goal both times and turned Los Angeles away after it had first-and-goal from the 2-yard line. Those are the only positives I can come up with from the game. It was a poor effort all around and it was a collective effort in terms of coaches, players, execution. The Rams have one of the best offensive coaches in the league in Sean McVay and a very talented offense. The degree of difficulty was high, but the Bears made too many glaring errors to have a chance.
In the middle of the silence, agent Drew Rosenhaus made it known that Hicks wanted a contract extension with the Bears as he entered the final season of his four-year, $48 million deal. That extension didn’t materialize for Hicks, who will be 32 in November, and the only public voices on the situation until Tuesday were those of general manager Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy, who both recently praised Hicks’ effort and leadership when asked about an unexplained absence in training camp.
“(Monday) night, I was walking through the door at my apartment and kind of grabbed the door frame, the little metal piece where the bolt goes in, and I turned the corner with my hand on that and it sliced my finger open,” Tepera said. “It’s probably about a centimeter big, a little bit deep. It’s a little sensitive right now.”
