We want an attacking effort-based offense that has great mental focus and intensity and we’re going to measure every single one of those. Obviously, taking care of the ball is the most important thing and then being smart in their situations, being smart, presnap, postsnap and understanding the game of football. And it’s our job as coaches to educate that. So in terms of like philosophy of offense, sure, I want an attacking style, scoring points, protecting the football. Those are things that we’re working through with the staff. We just hired staff member here now. We’ll get to work soon that. So that’s what we’re going to do.
“You only have so many weather days built into the schedule,” said Shiffrin, who once again plans to participate in slalom, giant slalom, downhill, super-G and Alpine combined. “At the end of the day, you can make every move right. You can be rested and ready to go strong. And it still can be totally messed up for, essentially, reasons that are completely out of your control. I don’t really love that idea.”
“I’m blessed to be part of this team, with this group of guys, this coaching staff,” added Stafford, who spent his first 12 NFL seasons in Detroit. “You can’t write the story any better. I’m at a loss for words. I’m just having a blast playing ball with these guys.”
INGLEWOOD, CALIF. — Travin Howard made a game-sealing interception with 1:09 to play, and the Los Angeles Rams rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to secure a spot in the Super Bowl at their home stadium next month with a thrilling 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game Sunday night.
“I take a lot of pride in consistency,” Vučević said. “It’s something that I’ve really been good at my whole career, being a big man that can score and does a good job rebounding. That’s something that I can do consistently, and so I do take a lot of pride in that, especially the rebounding part. That’s something I can always control every night no matter what’s going on out there. I can always box out my guy and grab a rebound.”
One week after the Bills’ Josh Allen called tails and it came up heads for the overtime coin toss — giving Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs the ball — Bengals backup quarterback Brandon Allen called heads and the coin came up tails. The Chiefs opened overtime again with the ball, but Vonn Bell intercepted Mahomes on the third play, and Burrow and the Bengals took over.
Larin exchanged passes with Jonathan David on a quick counter, turning around defender Miles Robinson, then beat Turner to the far post with a right-footed shot from 14 yards for his Canada-record 23rd international goal, one more than Dwayne De Rosario. It was the 16th career qualifying goal for Larin, who had an equalizer as Canada tied the U.S. 1-1 in September in a qualifier in Nashville, Tenn.
Now Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, the proverbial G.OA.T, is set to retire, and the tributes have been flowing since Saturday’s announcement by ESPN. Though the conference title games were on deck Sunday, the focus of ESPN’s “SportsCenter” all morning was on Brady — why he decided to call it quits now, why he will be remembered as the greatest ever, and how he went from a sixth-round draft pick to an NFL legend.
“While it is difficult to fill in for a coach that has a pedigree like Claude Julien, I am honored to be considered as the person to lead Canada’s Men’s Olympic Team as head coach,” Colliton said. “We have a very close-knit, experienced coaching staff that has gained a lot of knowledge from Claude in our short time together, and I know our staff will continue to support each other as we look to achieve our goal of winning an Olympic gold medal.”
The others still available are Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and the two top assistants for the Los Angeles Rams, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell.
