Woods, meanwhile, has not been removed from the list of players expected to compete. Woods, who badly injured his right leg and foot in a February 2021 car crash in Los Angeles, has said he was a long way off from competing at a high level, and that starts with being able to walk and play. He competed in the PNC Championship in December with his son while riding a cart.
“Now I can actually get into, like, facing in my mind a hitter and having at-bats inside my bullpens,” Miley said. “Right now I was just throwing. I’m just trying to get repetition with my arm. Obviously trying to locate pitches and stuff.”

Ball ceased running this week in the latest development in his recovery process, which has been stymied by continued knee discomfort for several weeks. He won’t attempt to run again for 10 days. Ball hasn’t been able to sprint or perform any drills at full speed since he underwent surgery in January.
Márquez told the Tribune he developed myocarditis after getting COVID last season. Myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, has been connected to post-COVID cases, and Márquez believes that is how he developed it. Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez notably missed the 2020 season because of myocarditis after contracting COVID. Testing discovered Márquez’s myocarditis, which he dealt with from April until November when he was fully cleared. Márquez was allowed to do light work and use some weights in September.
