“Just like you do at grocery stores, you’ll bring your five items, you’ll put them on a tray, it will scan immediately and tell you what it is you just purchased,” Kenney explained in an interview with the Tribune. “You put your credit card in and you walk away. You’ll never see a concession worker. … We’re trying to reduce wait times in every place that you bottleneck at Wrigley Field.”
There was unwarranted celebration among Bears fans when Leno was released after the draft last year, and it turned out the Bears would have been significantly better off keeping him on a modest contract. Leno didn’t play to his ability in 2020, but he bounced back and had a better season in Washington last year, earning a new contract from the Commanders. You will see a good handful of veterans cut loose after the draft, but more times than not, they’re descending players. It’s unlikely a quality left tackle would be cut, but you can’t rule out the possibility that a decent bridge option becomes available. The Bears could benefit by adding veterans at a couple of positions post-draft. They need help at a bunch of positions, and the list isn’t limited to cornerback, strong safety, wide receiver, guard, strong-side linebacker, return specialist, tight end …
“You want to be going into this time of year playing well,” Donovan said. “Since the All-Star break, it’s been a really, really, really challenging schedule. But I do think this is good because it’s shining a light on what you have to do and where you’ve got to get to and I think that’s a positive.”
“We’re excited to bring a pair of great academic institutions that are steeped in tradition together in 2023,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement. “I’m thrilled we’re able to bring the Tigers and the Irish together for a weekend that will feature programs with over 20 combined national titles, the Aristocrat of Bands and the Band of the Fighting Irish.”
It will be impossible for Ball to return during the regular season — which concludes Sunday with a road game against the Minnesota Timberwolves — and even a return in the postseason appears increasingly unlikely. The first round of the playoffs begins April 16, allowing little time for Ball to resume sprinting, regain enough fitness to compete in a game and receive clearance for contact from the medical staff.
“We worked on dumping pucks in, getting chip support, lot of support stuff. It was good,” King said. “They did little one-on-one, two-on-two battles, made them work a bit. And I liked their energy. They weren’t moping around, feeling sorry for themselves.”
“(Tanner Banks) has been a versatile pitcher,” Getz said during a video conference Tuesday reviewing the spring camp for minor-leaguers. “He’s added some velocity, close to 4 mph. We’ve always liked his slider. But overall command, he’s always had that pitchability component that’s so key for starting pitchers or any pitcher.
“Since late 2020, my wife and I had been trying to start a family unsuccessfully,” Severino said in a statement issued by the players’ association. “When we returned to the Dominican Republic after the 2021 season, we sought medical assistance to determine why we had not succeeded. One of the doctors I consulted with prescribed me with a medication to treat infertility issues. Unfortunately, I now know that the medication contained Clomiphene. I accept responsibility for this mistake and have decided not to challenge my suspension.”
Woods played in December at the PNC Challenge, a 36-hole scramble on a flat Florida course where he and his son Charlie finished second to John Daly and his son. Woods was allowed to use a cart in that event, and when those rounds were over he flatly dismissed any notion that his game was tour-ready again.
But it was Kansas that couldn’t buy a basket late in the first half, as Carolina ran over and around the Jayhawks during a 16-0 run. The Tar Heels led 40-25 at the break. Then, top-seeded KU (34-6) started trapping and pressing more, moving the ball around on offense, and Carolina started getting a taste of what everyone else has this season: You can’t stop ‘em all.
