But immigration agents held him in custody in Kentucky in 2019, the AP reported, in connection with a 2015 financial crime to which he pleaded guilty. He said he was “snatched” from his family for almost a year, and missed the birth of his second child.

Police and paramedics were called to the 800 block of North Lake Shore Drive for a report of a shooting on the Near North Side about 11:30 p.m., according to a police media notification. A 22-year-old man had suffered multiple graze wounds to the head and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition, police said.
“We have heard anecdotally that, and also through surveys, such as Blue Star Family surveys, that younger people may feel that they’re not as vulnerable to COVID and that perhaps the risk of getting vaccination is higher than getting the disease, which of course we know not to be true,” said Dr. Terry Adirim, acting assistant Defense secretary for health affairs, at an April news briefing. “We’ve also heard that people want to allow those who may be more at risk to get vaccinated. So there’s all kinds of reasons … and this is an area where I think we could focus and we could do a lot better in focusing on that population, to help them get educated because the message really is that you’re doing it not only to protect yourself but also your colleagues and teammates, your family and your community.”

Also Tuesday, the lawyer for Officer Evan Solano, who fatally shot Alvarez, confirmed that police Superintendent David Brown relieved his client of police powers, placing him on paid desk duty without the ability to carry a badge or gun for work purposes. A Chicago police spokesman, however, would only say “the matter is under review.”

“The family of 13-year-old Eric Crawford, who was shot Sunday morning in McKinley Park, is grateful for the support and prayers they have received from area residents,” family members said in a statement issued Tuesday through officials at Stroger Hospital, where he was taken after the shooting. “They urge anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department.”
“I went as far as Cline Avenue (to the east along the river), and while nefarious things have gone on there, there was nothing,” Hull said. “I really want to ask the people (at the engineering firm), ‘Do you mind if I crawl around your property? I’ll sign a waiver.’ I mean, there are box trucks with their doors open, so he could be in there.”
