Third-party camera footage from a security camera from the home Alvarez was shot in front of shows him release a gun as he falls to the ground, and police have said a gun was found at the scene.
Henry Taylor, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in the death May 21 of Luevenia Gardner, 35, after she was injured April 16 at her home in the 10600 block of South Hoxie Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood, officials said. Court and other records show Tayler and Gardner lived at the same address on Hoxie, although police did not indicate whether they were in a relationship.

While the majority of these women resided in Illinois, more than 7,500 women came from other states to have an abortion in Illinois in 2019, about 16% of all terminated pregnancies that year. This was roughly 2,000 more out-of-state women compared with 2018, when they comprised about 13% of all abortions statewide.

“There are not enough treatment beds available, and particularly there’s a problem with babies who are born of drug-addicted mothers,” Vincent Lane, the center’s first board chairman, said at the time. “We’ve got shuttered hospitals around the city, so what better way to utilize them?”

When the project is completed at the end of next year, the Chicago Department of Water Management will have installed 880 miles of new water mains throughout the city. Each of those cast iron pipes, up to 16 inches in diameter, will have been connected to smaller lead pipes known as service lines that convey water into homes and two-flats.
