“It’s not my intention to run for anything statewide. I think there’s probably less of that chatter. At the beginning, I heard people speculate that I was taking the positions I was taking to set myself up to run statewide. And I’ll tell you, people who speculate that don’t know me. And, I would even argue that they probably don’t know something about politics if you think I can get through a primary pretty easily,” Kinzinger said at the time.

“(His) conduct on January 6, like the conduct of scores of other defendants, took place in the context of a large and violent riot that relied on numbers to overwhelm law enforcement, breach the Capitol, and disrupt the proceedings,” they said. “But for his actions alongside so many others, the riot likely would have failed.”

In all, more than 100 Watts-related convictions have been tossed out. Attorneys for the accusers have been presenting potentially eligible cases to Cook County prosecutors for their review, and until this year, petitioners’ attorneys and prosecutors had presented a largely united public front. The most recent “mass exoneration,” clearing out nine cases, was in February of this year.
Blake, who is Black, was shot in the back several times by a white police officer in August 2020, sparking protests and often-violent unrest in the city. Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from north suburban Antioch, traveled across state lines to volunteer as an armed guard amid the chaos and ended up shooting three men, killing two of them.
McCormack, who pleaded guilty in 2007 to sexually abusing five children while he was a priest at St. Agatha’s parish, has since registered as a sex offender with the Illinois State Police and is listed as living in Chicago’s Near North neighborhood, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
While some parents have questioned if they should get their younger children vaccinated, as most do not experience serious illness from the virus, Bartlett said, “most is not all,” adding that thousands of children have been hospitalized from COVID-19.
