Both the infrastructure proposal, which also includes expansion of broadband to rural areas, and the pandemic recovery package “represent a historic investment in America, in the American workforce, in American infrastructure and will make the biggest investments ever in climate and clean tech innovation,” she said.
“Each and every day, our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to protect the safety and security we enjoy in DuPage County,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “For their service, courage and commitment, we owe them a great debt of gratitude that, in my opinion, can never be repaid. Any call to which they respond could turn violent at any time, as we saw in this case. The shooting of an officer touches all of us and on behalf of all DuPage County law enforcement, I wish a speedy and full recovery for the officer injured in this incident.”
Wheeler’s body was recovered Aug. 15 from the lake after a fisherman spotted her about three miles southeast of Waukegan Harbor. The 21-year-old, later identified as Jabbar Muhammad, was seen by deputies “brandishing a knife and threatening his grandfather,” later identified as Eldred Wells, 70, of Joliet, Jungles said. Those deputies tried to “calm (Muhammad) down and ordered him to put the knife down,” according to the statement.
According to Flyer News, Patino had been a senior mechanical engineering technology major who minored in human movement biomechanics. He belonged to Alpha Psi Lambda — a coeducational Latino fraternity — and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. He was also active at the university’s Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center.
Just before 1 a.m., the officer responded to a call in the 100 block of South York Road in Bensenville, Illinois, which is located west of the O’Hare International Airport, Schulze said. When the officer arrived, someone fired multiple shots at the officer.
His father, Jose Bascaran, posted flyers of Iñaki’s picture along with friends and family throughout River North, telling people with information to contact the police. According to Bascaran, 56, an Uber driver reported seeing someone late Saturday fitting his son’s description walking “not in a good condition.”
“We held Zoom classes and ended up delivering live lessons from the preschool classroom, which actually turned out to be extremely gratifying, as I got to experience a difficult time, and see how teachers were able to change their entire lesson plans and curriculum,” said Parker, 17, who is now a senior and enrolled in her fourth year of Township High School District 211′s Education & Training career pathway.
