The victim grabbed the man inside the car, but he broke free and jumped into the van, which took off, dragging the victim who was grasping onto it, the report said. The victim fell to the ground as the van sped away with the man’s valuables, the report said.

The suit also alleged that the company’s guns were contributing to rising violent crime rates in Chicago and Kansas City.
Jose G. Matias, 18, was taken into custody “without incident” around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in connection to the shooting where Joel Valdez was killed around 7 p.m. Friday at the Rosemont fashion outlet mall, Rosemont Police Sgt. Joseph Balogh said in a statement.

The effort is being led by Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, who is a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. The potential bid is also backed by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and state Democratic Chair and U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly as part of a coalition with Chicago business, civic and labor leaders.
