“Fenwick has implemented its crisis protocols and the building has been evacuated until a thorough investigation can occur,” the message read. “All students, faculty and staff are currently safe and away from the building, and there is no immediate threat to their well-being.”
Officials from the Cook County sheriff’s office said its Special Victims Unit arrested Adam Schall, 39, now of Wisconsin, on suspicion of “sending and receiving sexually explicit images and videos of children under the age of 13 on his cellphone,” according to a news release from Sheriff Tom Dart.
The toddler and the woman both were said to be in grave condition after firefighters responded to the 500 block of North Central Avenue, according to preliminary information from the Chicago Fire Department. Two others, a man whose condition was stabilized at West Suburban Hospital and an “elderly” woman in serious condition who was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, also were among the injured, according to a social media post by the Fire Department.
“People would love to see the Bears come, but they don’t want their property taxes to increase, and they don’t want traffic nightmares,” Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes said. “We’re still in the process of evaluating what we might be able to do from a financial perspective. … We want to make this happen, so we’ll have to see what their needs and our abilities are, and try to balance the two.”
“Meanwhile,” the statement continued, “there are significant and complicated issues that need to be addressed which impact the lives of real people. So, the Mayor remains focused on the things that are actually important to the people of Chicago: keeping our communities safe, providing essential city services, and making an equitable recovery and not the palace intrigue of her text messages.”

In an updated post on Twitter, Oak Forest officials said the shooter was reported to be a woman who had been taken into custody. Although officials said “there is no longer a threat to the public,” residents were still being asked to stay away from the intersection where officials expected a prolonged “heavy police presence.”
“The first thing I saw was like victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood in her body, a girl taking off glass from her, a young girl screaming saying, ‘They killed my sister.’ A mother running up, ‘Where’s my son, has my son been shot?’” he said.
