The land has had manyuses over the years, but it is probably best remembered for being the site of the Majestic Hills ski area, which operated from 1957 until 1988. The land previously had been a golf course for William Grunow Sr.’s lakefront estate. The Grunow family converted the land to a chicken farm, and in the 1950s, Grunow’s son, William Grunow Jr., converted the site into a ski hill by moving 600,000 yards of earth, he told the Tribune in 1966, to add 80 feet of vertical drop for an intermediate hill and 100 feet for an expert hill.

The focus now will be on a stretch of the highway between Wolf and St. Charles roads, and, farther south, stretches between I-55 and 75th Street and between LaGrange Road and 95th Street, the Tollway said. Sauk Trail Woods and Sauk Lake have five entries, and all of those access points and many of the amenities still exist. Sauk Trail Lake South, now appearing on maps as the Central Pavilion, was the flagship. It had two parking areas, a large stone shelter with two fireplaces, a drinking well and “sanitary conveniences,” and room for as many as 5,000 picnickers, according to the Survey. There was a concession stand, dressing rooms for those who wanted to swim off the sandy beach or jump from diving platforms. Others could head to the boathouse and rent a watercraft to paddle around.

Condominium boards must comply with the provisions of the by-laws as a part of their fiduciary obligations. If the board fails and/or refuses to call the annual meeting, besides possible breach of fiduciary duty claims, per section 18(b)(5) of the Condominium Act, 20% of the unit owners may sign a petition calling for a unit owner meeting to held, which in this case, would be the annual meeting.
It has everything that Cale and her wife wanted: a wood-burning fireplace, a “killer kitchen” and, most important, proximity to both their elderly mothers. The couple closed in December, made improvements over the winter, and started living in the house in March. At $455,000, they paid a tad over asking price, but “in this market, you make a decision 15 minutes after you walk in,” said Cale, an attorney.
In addition to the wage violations, Sanders, who is Black, also alleged discrimination in the lawsuit. He was demoted from lead bartender to on-call server and faced difficulty advancing in the workplace because of his race. When he was demoted, a director told him she was eliminating the position, according to the lawsuit, and hired a white man for the role two months later.
The riverboat, which holds about 1,000 gaming positions, could be up and running within six months of approval, providing a temporary “mini-Rivers” casino on the river while the permanent facility is built, Tim Drehkoff, the new CEO of Rush Street Gaming, said during a community engagement meeting Thursday.
“Syed posted pictures of the couple’s purchases on social media, including a $1,360,000 mansion and multiple luxury cars worth millions, including a sky blue Lamborghini, a red Lamborghini Countach, a Tesla Model Y, and a Ferrari Enzo,” the lawsuit said.
“When they do come to our trains, we don’t want the first thing that they encounter is a crowded train, because that might turn them off to resuming ridership,” he said. “We want them to find a train that has room for social distancing, and not to mention as clean as we can make them.”
