Over the last two weeks, Delaware State committed 32 penalties. This week, Head Coach DeSean Jackson challenged his team to be more disciplined. As a result, Delaware State improves to 3-1 with a dominating 39-10 victory over St. Francis (PA). Jackson says his team answered the call.

“I challenged them guys with discipline, man. And I think today they came out and showed the discipline,” DeSean Jackson said. ““We’re trying to hone in on the little things. Because when we don’t handle the little things, the big things won’t take care of themselves.”

The Hornets ran for 299 yards, led by running back James Jones with 111 of his own. Notably,  Delaware State turned three St. Francis takeaways into 19 points. The Hornets’ last 3-1 start was in 2007, when Delaware State went 10-2 and lost to Delaware in the then I-AA playoffs.

NC Central Blows Away Their In-State Rivals

North Carolina Central quarterback Walker Harris threw for 380 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles defeated their in-state rival, North Carolina A&T Aggies 62-20 Saturday afternoon. Chris Mosley and Arthur Rodgers Jr each ran for more than 150 yards each and totaled five touchdowns on the ground.

Notably, NC Central’s defense has held back-to-back opponents under 300 yards of total offense (NCAT 294, Fayetteville State 234). NCAT’s 42 rushing yards are the lowest total for an Eagle opponent since Howard managed just 38 rushing yards last season.

Lane College is No Problem for Alabama A&M

Eric Handley was 15-of-28 passing for 205 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as his Alabama A&M Bulldogs beat Lane College 49-7. Kolton Nero led the team with 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, the Bulldogs ran for 196 yards Saturday night.

Who is the real HU: Howard beats Hampton

Travis Kerney ran for 113 yards on 16 carries and scored two touchdowns to help Howard beat Hampton 34-7 on Saturday. The Howard offense pounded the Hampton defense with 456 yards of total offense, 289 on the ground. Kerney had 139 total yards of offense in the afternoon.

“A lot of credit goes to the O-line because they did a great job today,” praised Kerney. “They opened holes and made it easy for the backs. It’s been a little rough but we are beginning to get good chemistry.”

Defensive Back Kedrick Green led Howard with eight total tackles and an interception. Plus, linebacker Ja’Quavion Smith had seven total tackles on the day, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.
