Cubs right-hander Zach Davies couldn’t get through Cleveland’s lineup a third time but again looked good, continuing a strong May as he continues to bounce back from an awful April. Davies allowed one run in 5 ⅓ innings, walking two and striking out four.
The first $10,200 of unemployment benefits per resident — $20,400 for those married and filing jointly — are now nontaxable for returns with an adjusted gross income of less than $150,000, according to a retroactive provision included in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Menu prices are on the rise. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said prices in the “food away from home” category were up 3.8% in the 12 months ended in April. Besides increases in beef, poultry and fish prices, restaurants are spending more on labor, safety training and cleaning due to COVID-19, and passing along some of those costs, according to the National Restaurant Association.
“COVID-19 vaccines are the most important tool to help end the pandemic, and requiring students to be vaccinated will best support the health of our community and position us for in-person classroom and co-curricular activities for the Fall Term,” the administrators wrote.
