Lynn’s personality meshes perfectly with Sox fans. He spews profanities walking off the mound as if it’s an art form. He signed a two-year, $38 million extension with an option to stay on the South Side, likely costing himself several million on the free-agent market. And he’s got a big belly, which Sox fans have always appreciated in a player.

The state’s effort to line up a buyer for the building has been met with various delays, including the pandemic; more than a year ago, the Illinois General Assembly approved a measure calling for the state to sell the property to a developer by April 5, 2022, the Tribune previously reported. That deadline remains in place, though the legislature could extend it.

Visitors come for the chance to stitch (and for the homemade lunch) and soon realize they have much in common with the famously plain-living Amish, Jones said.
“I wrote on my card, I think I wrote, ‘amazing, amazing escapes,’ ” La Russa said. “He is just never going to quit competing. Never. No matter what the odds are, no matter what the situation is. He just competes, competes — and he’s got a lot to compete with. Those were really quality hitters.
Dear Upset: These adults are your son’s children. Evidently your son didn’t get the family memo about how important it is to appropriately express gratitude for a gift. You obviously lay the blame for this rudeness on your daughter-in-law, but you should share your frustration with your son. He’s their parent, too.
