Prosecutors charged two brothers in connection with the shooting. Emonte Morgan, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges. Eric Morgan, 22, faces weapons charges as well as a count of obstruction of justice. Prosecutors alleged that Emonte Morgan shot the officers, then handed the gun to his brother, who ran to a nearby yard where he was held by residents until police arrived.

The Aug. 13 Appellate Court decision, which requires Hobby Lobby to allow Sommerville to use the women’s restroom and allows her to pursue $220,000 in damages awarded by the Illinois Human Rights Commission, is a “tremendous victory for the transgender community,” according to one of her lawyers, Jacob Meister of Chicago, who worked on the case with co-counsel Katherine Christy.

In a 31-page decision, the Surface Transportation Board ruled this week that Metra should pay nearly $1 million more per year to use Union Station, which Amtrak owns. The decision brings Metra’s rent up to $10.7 million, with future increases for inflation.
