“This was horrible. I mean the crime was a hate crime, but a horrible hate crime. There was a noose, there was bleach,” Theis said. “It was local news, it was national news, international news. Everyone wanted to know what happened, from the mayor on down, everybody wanted answers.”
“It remains a variant of concern because we think it is likely more transmissible, more contagious than delta based on the pattern that we were seeing in South Africa,” Arwady said. “We may see more breakthrough infections in people who are vaccinated, and we may see more repeat infections in people who previously had COVID. We don’t have any real evidence at this point that it’s making people sicker, but they’re still doing the work to figure that out.”
The return to a full 10-day indoor auto show in February is an ambitious undertaking, particularly as the omicron variant stokes new concerns about a potential resurgence of COVID-19 infections. But Sloan said consumer demand is there, with 5,000 advance tickets sold on Cyber Monday, the day the show was announced.

The man said he was inside his car in the drive-thru lane, picking up some tacos after working an earlier shift as a limo driver, when he saw a person walk in front of his car with what looked like a crowbar in his hand and begin striking the drive-thru window with it. The person then turned toward the victim’s car, looked at him, and hit the car’s hood and fender with the crowbar, the victim said.

“Guys are going to have to break the ice; they’re going to have to break through this,” King said. “Slumps, you go through them. I’m sure some of them aren’t used to going through them this long, but they’ll get out of them. They’re going to have to. If they don’t, then it’s going to be a long year without those goals.”
Defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, who joined Notre Dame for the 2021 season from Cincinnati, is expected to be among the candidates for the job, as are Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell, Iowa State coach Matt Campbell and possibly Clark Lea, who was Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator before leaving a year ago to become head coach at Vanderbilt.
