A semitruck driver was killed Friday in a collision with another vehicle that closed the inbound Tri-State Tollway near Hazel Crest for hours.
The deadly collision occurred just before 9 a.m. on the Tollway near 167th Street in the south suburb, Illinois state police said in a news release.
The semitrailer was traveling north when it struck another vehicle before striking a concrete median, authorities said.
The truck’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was taken to an area hospital with non serious injuries.
State police did not provide a possible cause of the crash. The crash shut down all northbound lanes until about 1:30 p.m. Two left northbound lanes remained shut down Friday afternoon for the crash investigation.
