“The energy, Wrigley rocking on a day game in division should be a lot of fun,” Ross said Thursday morning. “Fans getting back to close to full capacity should be a lot of fun. The atmosphere as I remember it is one of the best in baseball. I can’t wait to get back to that. I think it will feel normal. I think it will give us a nice boost, and it will be nice to be welcomed home after a good road trip.”

And we felt strongly we had experienced players: (Bobby) Shuttleworth, (Kenneth) Kronholm, (Jonathan) Bornstein, (Francisco) Calvo, even (Przemysław) Frankowski is quite experienced, (Fabian) Herbers, (Johan) Kappelhof. We really have a couple of players who are clearly more than 25 years old. So now we focus a little bit on young players. It’s a bit easier to get them on the international market.”

And Carlos Rodón allowed one run on one hit with 10 strikeouts in six innings in Wednesday’s 4-0 loss. Rodón became the fourth pitcher in Sox history to allow one run or fewer and one hit or fewer with no walks and 10-plus strikeouts in six-plus innings in a start, joining Gary Peters (July 15, 1963, vs. the Orioles), Floyd Bannister (Sept. 13, 1987, at the Mariners) and Chris Sale (May 22, 2014, vs. the Yankees).

This has been true since Anderson first began making noise in 2018, ticking off the likes of Justin Verlander and Salvador Pérez for trying to inject fun into the game. Pérez, the Kansas City Royals catcher, was upset that Anderson yelled, “(Bleep), let’s go,” after hitting a home run, causing both benches to clear.
