Cohen’s numbers fell off the following season when he had just 669 yards from scrimmage despite recording 79 catches and 64 carries. Before his ACL injury last season, he had 14 carries for 74 yards and six receptions for 41 yards. The Bears signed him to a three-year, $17.25 million contract extension a week before his knee injury occurred.

“The coolest thing that I saw is the group were always staying together, always trying,” Bote said Sunday. “It was really encouraging to see a group that when we were struggling there for a couple of weeks everybody in the clubhouse was like, ‘Hey, let’s find a way to win today.’ It didn’t go our way in a lot of ways, but the group that was out there grinding for nine innings, it was really encouraging to watch. Around these parts, Dolson is referred to almost exclusively as “Big Mama Stef,” a college nickname that has been enthusiastically embraced by the stadium announcers at the 3×3 women’s basketball tournament. During Sunday’s 22-11 rout of Romania, the announcer referred to Dolson by her given name just once at the start of the game.
