Seth Jones, a 26-year-old Texas native and son of former NBA forward Popeye Jones, led Blue Jackets defenseman this past season with 28 points (five goals and 23 assists). He made the NHL’s second All-Star team in 2017-18 after setting career highs in goals (16), assists (41) and points (57) with the Blue Jackets, and he played in four consecutive All-Star Games from 2017 to 2020.

Sogard was signed to a minor-league deal in early March and competed in spring training with Nico Hoerner, David Bote and Ildemaro Vargas for playing time at second base. The Cubs surprisingly sent Hoerner, a first-round pick who came up in 2019, to the minors, leaving Bote and Sogard as the two second basemen.

Inside, the feeling of sanitized, locked-down quarantine carries over. Fans, who would normally be screaming for their countries and mixing with people from around the world, have been banned, leaving only a carefully screened contingent of journalists, officials, athletes and participants.
The Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be unlike any other because they will take place in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
