The Bears haven’t had the best luck with dual-threat backs. Darrell Henderson Jr., Joe Mixon and Browns backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb each have totaled at least 70 yards, and Henderson and Hunt have scored. Hunt added six catches for 74 yards while Chubb had the edge in carries.
“I know how this works,” the Swiss native said in June. “I played 15 years and I’ve been a coach a long time, so I know how it works. We don’t have results. I don’t have arguments. Rodón, who walked two and struck out four, gave a preview of what he might provide in the postseason in his first outing since manager Tony La Russa expressed concern when Rodón exited after the third inning with what the pitcher called “normal soreness” Sept. 20 against the Detroit Tigers.
“He came here and stuck to who he was, he contributed and helped us win a lot of games,” Ross said. “When he came up and you lose some of the guys that we lost, it felt like a big blow, and he came up and really filled the gap for a long time and helped us stay on the path for a lot longer toward winning than probably anybody else we could have called up.
Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for making contact with umpire Tim Timmons during Monday’s benches-clearing incident with the Detroit Tigers, Major League Baseball senior vice president of on-field operations Michael Hill announced Wednesday.
“He’s playing to his huge talent and he’s producing huge, he plays defense huge,” Sox manager Tony La Russa said Tuesday. “You understand how much we missed him and Eloy (Jiménez) in the first half (because of injuries). Can’t give our club enough credit for hanging in there. Having those two guys back, it’s a different looking team.
