After both teams scored touchdowns on their opening drives, the score remained tied at 7 until the Packers took the lead for good with 15 seconds left in the first half on Lazard’s 10-yard reception. Lazard, who entered the day with just 10 catches for 124 yards, had five receptions on that drive.

Free agents can start signing with any team on the sixth day following the World Series, and this year’s group includes Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Freddie Freeman, Trevor Story, Max Scherzer, Marcus Semien, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Michael Conforto and Kevin Gausman.

Mack’s foot injury and Robinson’s ankle injury have limited them in practice, but they will play through them against the Bucs. Former Giants All-Pro Landon Collins was this week’s scapegoat for Washington’s defensive dysfunction, with head coach Ron Rivera publicly insisting Collins belongs at linebacker and not safety. Meanwhile, no one takes less heat for the defense’s disappointing season than its coordinator, Jack Del Rio … Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady is the pick of LSU alumni at the moment to succeed outgoing head coach Ed Orgeron with the Tigers, according to sources. Brady, 32, rose to stardom as the offensive coordinator of Joe Burrow’s national championship offense in 2019. He is in his second season running Matt Rhule’s offense with the Panthers. Will it be his last? … Brian Flores’ Dolphins (1-5) are one of the most disappointing teams in the league, and there is some strange stuff going on in Miami. While Flores has co-offensive coordinators in George Godsey and Eric Studesville, for example, neither of them called the plays the first four weeks. QBs coach Charlie Frye did, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, apparently due to his rapport with Tua Tagovailoa. Flores kept that a secret until this week. Miami’s defense is bad, too, though, giving up 29.5 points per game, tied for third worst in the NFL with the Giants.

Also in 8A, ninth-seeded Lincoln-Way East (7-2), which won the 2019 state championship, will start its quest for back-to-back titles with a home game against Oswego East (6-3). Fourth-seeded Lockport (8-1) hosts 29th-seeded Lyons (5-4), and 18th-seeded Marist (6-3) visits 15th-seeded Glenbard East (7-2).
