Today, Jordan owns an 11-bedroom, 28,000-square-foot, $12.4 million mansion on three acres in Jupiter, Fla. He also paid $3.14 million in 2010 for the two top-floor penthouses in a condominium in downtown Charlotte, N.C., just two blocks from the arena where the NBA team he owns, the Charlotte Bobcats, plays. And, he owns a six-bedroom, 12,310-square-foot mansion in Cornelius, N.C., which he purchased in 2013 for $2.8 million. And although it received no coverage at the time, Jordan sold a five-bedroom, 9,574-square-foot house near the Glenwild Golf Course in Park City, Utah in December 2020 to a buyer from the Seattle area for an undisclosed price after that home had been listed for $7.5 million.

I see you’ve been taking in the ice dancing. The discipline is rife with pairs where at least one half has tenuous, if any, ties to the country for which they compete (though none of the medalist pairs this year had naturalized members). Ice dancing has historically been dominated by a handful of countries — namely Russia (or its historical antecedents), with strong showings by Canada, France, the U.S. and Great Britain. That means if you want to make it to the premier rink, it might behoove you to acquire a new nationality.

That’s a great question. The group of wide receivers coming out of contract isn’t super deep. Davante Adams is the best by far, but the Green Bay Packers can secure him with the franchise tag. After that you’re looking at Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin (who suffered a torn ACL and MCL in December), Mike Williams, Will Fuller, Jamison Crowder, JuJu Smith-Schuster, T.Y. Hilton and Christian Kirk. Williams is interesting to me. He has good size at 6-foot-4, 218 pounds and is coming off a season in which he caught 76 passes for 1,146 yards with nine touchdowns. He figures to be one of the hottest targets in free agency and has indicated he’d like to stay with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Miss: Matthew McConaughey in “The New Frontier,” Salesforce. “It’s not time to escape. It’s time to engage,” McConaughey tells us, floating high above mere mortals in a magical hot air balloon symbolizing the software org focused on customer relationship management that will somehow focus our attention on what the planet needs, and maximize our awareness of the environment. I had to look up what Salesforce was, because I am dumb, and I am not Salesforce’s sales target. Still, I wonder if analytics nerds got much out of the spot, either.

By the time Eminem showed up for his pump-it-up “8 Mile” anthem “Lose Yourself,” wearing a dark beard, a baseball cap and a hoodie, the performance seemed almost anti-climactic. Just a few minutes had gone by, but so much had already happened, musically, sentimentally (aside from Lamar’s hits, most of the songs were at least 15 years old), visually and culturally. When one of the drummers turned out to be Anderson .Paak, a younger rapper, singer and hitmaker in a sharp blue-fringed jacket, the surprise appearance was part of the star-studded wallpaper.
