“This is truly an effort in collaboration and how it should be done,” South Side Ald. Leslie Hairston, 5th, said of the compromise plan. “Everyone did not get what they wanted, but we got to a point where we could agree with something that would be best for the city of Chicago.”

DeLuna had taken out an order of protection against Rubio more than a week before the stabbing, and Rubio had moved out of the home where authorities later found DeLuna, prosecutor said. He violated the order of protection and went to the home, broke in and stabbed DeLuna multiple times, then fled, prosecutors said.
