Still, he said, steadier rain is best for getting out of a drought, as opposed to heavy rain like the kind expected this weekend. The metro area’s drought had been steadily getting worse since April until last week, he said, when the area started experiencing some improvement with precipitation. Areas closer to the Wisconsin border are experiencing an extreme drought, while the southern part of the metro area is not experiencing a drought, he said.

The third victim, 57, was shot in the leg and reported in fair condition and the last victim, 65, was shot in the arm and transported in fair condition, according to officials.
To avoid a repeat of that situation with the next storms, city officials and weather watchers advise taking steps now — not waiting for the next storm watch or warning. They say municipal sirens are intended mainly to reach people who are outdoors, not inside their homes, and recommend taking steps to turn on phone alerts, download weather apps with alerts or buy a weather radio.
