About 15 minutes earlier, another man, 41, was found unresponsive inside a residence to which police had been called. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his armpit and was pronounced dead at the residence in 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue in East Chatham at 2:01 p.m. and he had not yet been identified, according to the medical examiner’s office.

“But, as a council, our first priority is to safeguard the well-being of the entire Northwestern community, not just a select few,” Papandreou responded via Twitter. “And we’re providing the tools and resources to chapters to make sure they do too.”
“There are numerous examples of personal invectives and insults, uncontrolled rants, and verbal abuses — accompanied by boorish, obnoxious, repugnant, rude, and vulgar conduct — over the past two years,” the statement reads in part. “These actions — the epitome of incivility — are abhorrent and despicable, have no place in public discourse, and bring disrepute upon our Party.”
The pipe burst on 144th Street and Ashland Avenue in nearby Harvey, a city that is the sole water provider to Dixmoor, according to Dixmoor Village President Fitzgerald Roberts. On Saturday, a water main broke in Harvey, but was fixed, officials said.

Lightfoot announced in August that each of the city’s more than 30,000 workers must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by Oct. 15, following numerous cities across the U.S. As the deadline approached, Lightfoot pressured city workers with unspecified “consequences” if they did not meet the vaccination cutoff.
To correct the situation, the state was advised to increase enforcement of staffing and other regulations, require public reporting of facility performance, use data to improve equity, and target consistently poor performing facilities for technical support, according to the review by Manatt Health Strategies, which was commissioned by the state.
The shooting stemmed from a “hostile” ongoing feud between Scarver’s group and one involving Starks and his childhood friend who escaped the shooting unharmed. A week before the shooting, Scarver robbed the two victims of money and marijuana, which prompted associates of the victims to beat up Scarver, authorities said. The surviving victim had been friends with Starks for years and had known Scarver since fourth grade, prosecutors said.
