The 24 reports made to Park Ridge police involved stolen checks that had been mailed to pay mortgages, utilities, cable bills, business expenses, landscaping fees and charitable gifts, among other purposes, the reports indicate. In some, the amounts were erased and increased, resulting in hundreds or even thousands of dollars in losses. All appeared to have a new name on the “pay to the order of” line.

In a letter to the Foreign Relations committee, the aldermen touted Emanuel’s investments in South and West Side neighborhoods, the expansion of the school day and year, the implementation of full-day kindergarten and the overhaul of the Red Line South. The letter was signed by Aldermen Jason Ervin, 28th; Michael Scott Jr., 24th; Greg Mitchell, 7th; Howard Brookins, 21st; Michelle Harris, 8th; Stephanie Coleman, 16th; Walter Burnett, 27th; Emma Mitts, 37th; and Anthony Beale, 9th.
In 2019, two friends from far north suburban Zion were convicted by a federal jury in 2019 of attempting to aid the terrorist group by providing cellphones to an undercover FBI agent to be used as detonators for bombs. Joseph Jones was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while his co-defendant, Edward Schimenti, received 13½ years behind bars.

The bulletin sent Monday to Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System members, an umbrella agency of Illinois police departments, was a preliminary step toward assessing the workforce available to assist the city. The backup would be at the city’s request and only in the event of an emergency, such as a plane crash or tornado, not to answer routine calls for service or patrol city streets, ILEAS Executive Director James Page said.
“(HOPE Chicago) and CSU are both aligned around the basic principles of equity,” said Zaldwaynaka Scott, president of Chicago State, a partner school. Green Equity alleges that regulators erroneously awarded social equity points based on the residences of its employees, not its owners. High Haven, Magic Sparks, Green Equity, Hempathy, Haaayy and WAH all claim they were unfairly excluded from the lotteries, and High Haven wants to rerun all three lotteries. ReNu IL LLC, Truerb LLC and Leafsie LLC, also joined in the suits.
