The team likely would need to get preliminary approval from the village board for its plans to close the sale, Hayes said. As with any large development, the team also would likely need approval from the village plan commission, design commission, engineering, public works, and legal departments. There would be public hearings, Hayes said, so residents and others could weigh in on the issue.
Not on the map: buildings that require payment for entry, those that primarily serve clients or patients, or locations that require entrants to pass through security checkpoints. The map also excludes privately owned restroom facilities, such as those in restaurants, hotels and malls. The CTA does not provide public restrooms at any of its stations, and restrooms at Metra stations are reserved for ticket holders.
Nearly 350 of the structures are in public parks, with 79 stand-alone restrooms closing during the colder seasons. Bathrooms can also be found in 23 police stations, 81 libraries, seasonally at nine Forest Preserve areas, at City Hall, at Union Station, along Chicago’s Riverwalk and in the underground Pedway system. Although several unhoused people told the Tribune they frequently use Metra station restrooms, these are technically reserved for ticket holders, according to a department freedom of information officer.
“These guys are lawyers, professors, doctors, therapists, they’re not just people that are incarcerated,” Jones said. “They are somebody. All of them are somebody, you know, and it’s time for us to give them an opportunity to be somebody.”
Newman was lumped into the newly drawn district along with six-term Republican U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Channahon, a critic of former President Donald Trump and his continued leadership of the GOP. While the district has overall Democratic leanings, if Kinzinger were to survive an anticipated primary challenge, he could benefit from the rural areas added to the district in challenging Newman.
The information, once vetted, will be shared immediately with local school officials, mental health professionals and/or local law enforcement, officials said. The program is voluntary for school districts, but staff will evaluate all calls and forward to the proper local contact even if the district isn’t formally enrolled. Calls that reference immediate threats will be routed to 911, officials said.
A relative of Cardwell discovered her body during a weekly visit, police said. At the time, investigators believed Cardwell had been killed the previous night or earlier that morning, and noted that there was no sign of forced entry to her room and nothing appeared to be stolen, according to the Tribune. Police said residents of the building did not report hearing anything unusual.

The message from local Fraternal Order of Police first vice president Michael Mette, in a video posted on social media, came the Police Department slowly works through the process of dealing with the thousands of employees who did not report their vaccine status by Friday’s deadline. The city has been giving those employees counseling and a final chance to comply before placing those who refuse on no-pay status.
