It can be tough, Thiel said, to find appropriate spaces to provide the infusions, given that the patients who are receiving them are COVID-19 positive. Also, the system has limited staff who can administer the treatments, partly because of nationwide staff shortages and partly because many of them are still so focused on other efforts to combat COVID-19, such as giving vaccinations and administering tests, he said.

The proposed ordinance follows state statute and would prohibit dispensaries or infusion organizations from locating within 500 feet from a school, church, park or residential care home and 1,500 feet from another cannabis business. The proposed changes also would prohibit a cultivation center from locating within 1,500 feet from a school, church, park or residential care facility.
The vast majority of United’s employees are vaccinated, but about 2,000 of them were granted religious or medical exemptions. A handful of employees filed suit against United over the policy in Texas federal court in September, one of several lawsuits challenging vaccine mandates by private and government employers.

Businesses have been dealing with supply chain problems and higher costs for months. It has been a key concern for investors as big companies pass those costs off to consumers, who have so far been absorbing higher prices on everything from groceries to clothing and other consumer products. On Friday, the Labor Department reported that consumer prices surged 6.8% for the 12 months ending in November, the biggest increase in 39 years.
