In Libertyville, Leno paid $681,875 in 2018 for the house, which is on East Lincoln Avenue. Built in 1995, the house has three full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a family room with a fireplace, a bonus room on the third floor, updated lighting, a kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and new granite countertops, and an in-law suite with a private bath on the second floor. The Lenos also recently finished the basement and recently fenced the backyard.
Illinois’ jobless rate has dropped from its pandemic high of 16.5% to 5.7% in November, according to the most recent federal job numbers for the state. With one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, that’s above the national average of 4.2%. While Illinois’ unemployment rate is consistently higher when compared to other states, it fared better than California, which had the highest unemployment rate at 6.9%, as well as Nevada at 6.8% and New York, whose jobless rate was 6.6%.

Founded in 2009, Rivian is building an electric truck and SUV, as well as 100,000 custom EV delivery vans for Amazon, an investor in the company. California-based Rivian has nearly 3,900 employees working at its sole production facility, a former Mitsubushi plant in Normal, a college town about 130 miles south of Chicago.

Rivian, which has more than 10,000 employees overall, plans to break ground on the Georgia plant next summer and begin producing the “next generation” of EVs by 2024. The plant will employ 7,500 workers with an eventual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles per year, Scaringe said. Until then, Rivian’s ambitions to become the Tesla of trucks will depend entirely on the production output at the Normal plant.

Not all were prompted by an exposure to COVID-19, with some closing solely as a precaution amid a national and statewide uptick in cases this month that has many flocking to get vaccine boosters and tests ahead of the Christmas weekend.
