A Bolingbrook couple died Saturday when a man killed himself after his wife was fatally shot in an apparent accident while he was cleaning his firearm, police said.
Simeon Hendrickson, 61, had been working on a handgun at home around 5:45 p.m. when it accidentally fired a bullet that struck his 60-year-old wife, Laurie Hendrickson, police said in a news release Sunday, citing preliminary investigations.
He “then took his own life with the handgun and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police wrote.
The woman was taken from the home on the 700 block of Dalton Lane to a hospital and later pronounced dead, the news release said.
The man’s Facebook page indicated that he taught firearm training classes and worked closely with guns.
The fatal shootings remain under investigation, police said.
