“The family of 13-year-old Eric Crawford, who was shot Sunday morning in McKinley Park, is grateful for the support and prayers they have received from area residents,” family members said in a statement issued Tuesday through officials at Stroger Hospital, where he was taken after the shooting. “They urge anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department.”

Saturday will mark the seventh “Switch on Summer” event, where the Park District and Commonwealth Edison partner in restarting the water flow in the landmark fountain in Grant Park. Thought it’s typically a festival-like event with live music and games, only a small group will be in person this year, said Park District spokesperson Irene Tostado.
During the fight, the employee sustained a sprained elbow and hair removed from his head, police said. The employee was taken to a local hospital and released Sunday. The customer had injuries to his face and abrasions on other areas of his body and declined medical treatment while at the scene, according to officials.
