Tuesday, some of Floyd’s family members were meeting with President Joe Biden and with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in Washington, as congressional negotiators remain optimistic about the prospects for a national law enforcement bill, and say they’ve made progress toward an agreement. In Minneapolis, activists and others planned to gather at the intersection where Floyd died for a “Rise and Remember George Floyd” celebration, including a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m., capping several days of marches, rallies and panel discussions about his death and where America is in confronting racial discrimination.
