“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” came with us everywhere: To the pediatrician’s office, in case it took awhile. To restaurants, to ease the wait for our food. On road trips to see our Ohio family. On plane trips to see our Maryland family. At naptime, at bedtime, first thing in the morning, in the middle of the day, in the middle of a park, in the middle of a meltdown, always, that caterpillar and its endless appetite joined us.
“The best way to grow our economy is not from the top down, but from the bottom up and the middle out,” Biden said in his written budget message. “Our prosperity comes from the people who get up every day, work hard, raise their family, pay their taxes, serve their Nation, and volunteer in their communities.”
On police body-camera footage released by COPA of the Alvarez shooting, officers can be seen running down an alley first, then bearing down on Alvarez as they turn a corner onto a small lawn. Third-party camera footage from a security camera from the home Alvarez was shot in front of shows him release a gun as he falls to the ground, and police have said a gun was found at the scene.
“This is so good,” Deshaies said in a low-key tone as Báez retreated, giving us a hint of what was to come from years of watching Báez do his thing. When Contreras drew the throw to the plate and Báez ruled him safe before running to the open base, Deshaies’ voice rose dramatically: “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Henry Taylor, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in the death May 21 of Luevenia Gardner, 35, after she was injured April 16 at her home in the 10600 block of South Hoxie Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood, officials said. Court and other records show Tayler and Gardner lived at the same address on Hoxie, although police did not indicate whether they were in a relationship.
Chicago White Sox unveil their Nike MLB City Connect Series uniform, paying homage to the South Side
“The White Sox identity — black and white, gothic script and pinstripes — is so strong that it has resonated beyond the game of baseball,” said Wil Green, a Nike senior creative director, in a statement. “Their uniforms speak to the strength and hardworking nature of the Southside of Chicago — without saying a word. We wanted to harness the Southside’s personality for the Nike MLB City Connect Series and introduce its attitude to newer, younger fans.”
In the video, calves are stomped in the head, kicked, dragged by the tail and ears, hit in the face with plastic milk bottles, thrown out of the back of trucks and into pens, and generally brutalized. Five workers in the video were identified as participating in the alleged abuse. Four employees were fired and a truck driver who worked for a third-party vendor was banned from the farm. Criminal charges were filed against at least three of the workers.
