Joshua Castellano is facing a charge of first-degree murder, for which he could have a maximum sentencing of life in prison if found guilty, the release said. Judge Brian Telander had set his bail, and Castellano will need to post 10% of his bond, or $200,000, to be released from jail.
Bruce Lua, 45, faces two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. Lua, who was shot by an officer in the confrontation, remains hospitalized and did not appear in court.
Under Tuesday’s update to the city’s mask guidance, those who are two weeks after their final vaccination dose can take off the mask except when in hospitals, public transportation, jails and schools, public health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said during a news conference. Businesses that cannot regulate who is vaccinated and who isn’t will be strongly advised to keep mask requirements.
Cody Lang, 19, of the 3800 block of N. Nora Ave., Chicago, and Makayla Wheeler, 18, of the 8300 block of W. Winona St., Norridge, were taken into custody May 14 at a Motel 6 at 1535 Milwaukee Ave. Both were charged with felony possession of stolen property in connection with the crime, police said.

The driver was westbound on McDonald Road when his vehicle crossed the center line in front of South Elgin Fire District Station #2, South Elgin Deputy Police Chief Randy Endean said. The vehicle went into a culvert, took out a couple of trees, continued 100 more yards and came out of the culvert to strike another tree, he said.

“It’s really cool, especially for how much history this field has,” Schwarber said Monday. “I remember when they first asked about it, I was like, ‘If you guys don’t want to do anything with it, I’ll take it. If you guys want to leave it here and I can leave a little mark here on Wrigley Field with all the history here this field has.’
