Heading into Thursday’s off day, Cubs relievers have combined to throw 243 ⅓ innings this season, fourth-most in the majors. Even so, the bullpen’s 2.8 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) ranks third best in baseball. White was arrested in the 11800 block of South Princeton Avenue a few minutes after the attack, police said. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and possessing a gun with a defaced serial number. He also had two warrants for his arrest and was scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court midday Thursday.

The man, 36, was pulled from the water by Fire Department divers, according to police. Crews performed CPR on the man in an ambulance, according to fire officials, and he wastaken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
