14-year-old Olivia Ohlson-Ellis serves lemonade for her customers at her lemonade and cookie stand outside her home on Sept. 12, 2021, in Evanston, Illinois. At the end of her fourth grade year, Olivia’s mom, Virginia Ohlson, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was caught early through a mammogram, and she had a double mastectomy and chemotherapy in summer 2017 to remove the cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. That summer, at 10 years old, that Olivia took her aspirations to run a lemonade stand and made them a reality. Olivia, now 14, has raised $9,600 of her $10,000 goal for NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Kellogg Cancer Center to support the place that helped her mom during her breast cancer journey. She’s hoping to reach her goal with a lemonade stand on Sunday in Evanston.

Kaden Ingram, 12, who lived in the 8000 block of South Bennett Avenue — the same block where investigators said he was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the head around 10:30 a.m. Saturday — was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m. at University of Chicago Medical Center. Information about his identity was released Sunday by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide caused by the gunshot wounds.
“The key is his legs are such a critical part of his game,” La Russa said. “Whether it’s defense or offense, he tweaked it one time before (strained left hamstring in early April) and it was the same so we were being very super careful with it. We have a great staff, training staff, so they’ve progressed carefully. And it just shows, No. 1, that you want to take care of his legs.
